Some Motivations
Verses in the Quran
Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned.
Surah Al-Baqarah
Verse 286 (partly)
"Have We not made the earth as a bed. And the mountains as pegs? And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), And have made the day for livelihood. And We have built above you seven strong (heavens). And have made (therein) a shining lamp (sun). And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations. And gardens of thick growth."
Surah An Naba'
Verses 6-16
"Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?". Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out."
Surah Al-Mulk
Verses 3-4
Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. After that, surely, you will die. Then (again), surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?"
Surah Al-Mu'minun
Verses 14-16, 115
Don't Be Sad
The past is gone forever
By brooding over the past and its tragedies, one exhibits a form of insanity - a kind of sickness that destroys to live for the present moment. Do not live in the nightmares of former times or under the shade of what we have missed. Remaining too much into the past is a waste of the present. Everything on earth marches forward, preparing for a new season - and so should we. (compiled)
"That was a nation who has passed away."
Surah Al Baqara
Verse 134
Today is all that we have
When we wake up in the morning, do not expect to see the evening- live as though today is all that we have. Yesterday has passed with its good and evil, while tomorrow has not yet arrived. Organize the hours of this day, so that we make years - out of minutes and months - out of seconds. Live today happily at peace, be content with your sustenance, seek forgiveness from Allah, prepare for the final parting from this world. (compiled)
"So hold that which I have given you and be of the grateful."
Surah Al A'raaf
Verse 144
Do not expect gratitute from anyone
Do not be dismayed when we find that others forget our favors or disregard our kind acts. Some people might even despise us and make us an enemy for no other reason than we have shown them kindness. This is not to say that we should refrain from performing acts of kindness towards others - the point is that we should be mentally prepared for ingratitude. We should perform acts of charity seeking Allah's pleasure. While human beings can become ungrateful to Allah, so what treatment should we expect. (compiled)
"And when harm touches man, he invokes Us, lying down on his side, or sitting or standing. But when We have removed his harm from him, he passes on his way as if he had never invoked Us for a harm that touched him".
Surah Yunus
Verse 12
Verily, with hardship, there is relief
Eatings follows hunger, drinking follows thirst, sleep comes after restlessness, and health takes the place of sickness. The lost will find its way, the one in difficulty will find relief, and the day will follow the night. If we see that desert extends for miles and miles, then know that beyond that distance are green meadows with plentiful shade. Tears are followed by a smile, fear is replaced by comfort, and anxiety is overthrown by serenity. It is impossible for things to remain the same. The days and years rotate, the future is unseen, and everyday Allah has matters to bring forth. We know it not, but it may be that Allah will afterwards bring some new thing to pass. (compiled)
